- Joan de Holand was born circa 1380.2 She was the daughter of Thomas deHoland, 2nd Earl of Kent and Alice FitzAlan.1 She married, firstly,Edmund of Langley, 1st Duke of York, son of Edward III, King ofEngland and Philippe de Hainaut, circa 4 November 1393.2 She married,secondly, William de Willoughby, 5th Lord Willoughby de Eresby, son ofRobert de Willoughby, 4th Lord Willoughby de Eresby and AliceSkipwith, before 9 August 1404.1 She married, thirdly, Henry leScrope, 3rd Baron Scrope of Masham after 6 September 1410 at Chapel ofFlaxflete, Yorkshire, England.2 She married, fourthly, HenryBromflete, 1st Lord Vessy, son of Sir Thomas Bromflete and MargaretSt. John, before 27 April 1416.2 She died on 12 April 1434 sp.2
Joan de Holand was also known as Joan Holland. As a result of hermarriage, Joan de Holand was styled as Duchess of York circa 4November 1393. She was invested as a Lady Companion, Order of theGarter (L.G.) in 1399.3 From before 9 August 1404, her married namebecame de Willoughby. From after 6 September 1410, her married namebecame le Scrope. From before 27 April 1416, her married name becameBromflete.
