George adoptedAnna Belle, the story goes, and when her mother died, George marriedMary Kinard Dumond, a widow. George died in 1925, and Mary adoptedAnna Belle. Anna Belle is reported as 16 years old in the householdof widow Emma Miller in 1930. Anna Belle was born in Missouri, and sowere both her parents according to this census.
