Notes
- This son of John Jenkins and Julia Ward is reported in the 1900 censusas Curley and in the 1920 census as Cull. Curly is usually anickname. There is a family tradition that John also had a brothernamed Curly, but Jenkins family researchers have been unable to findany documentation of anyone of this name. Another child named Curlymay have died very young.
Also there is a family tradition of a brother named Cullen, and Cullis a short form of that. Cullen (Cull) and Curley could be the sameperson. Here the same person seems to have both names. Could it bethat it was this grandson of John Jenkins, a brother of Joseph AsaJenkins, that Joe's children remembered vaguely and incorrectly as abrother of their father, rather than their own cousin they never knew?

Note the interesting report of birth place for Clarence. He isreported born in Oklahoma, which may indicate that Cullen and his wifewere living with or near his Jenkins relatives in Oklahoma for awhile. This would seem to strengthen the childhood memories of hiscousins that there was a Cullen in their family, but may have been soearly (before some were born) that they thought of him as an unclerather than a cousin.
In 1930 we find them in Arkansas. Their son Clarence is still in thehome, age 15, as well as a niece Jewel Mallonee, the daughter ofCull's sister Ethel..

Cull's wife Ada passed away in 1937. Cull survived her until 1945.
The Arkansas Death Index informs us that Cull's full name wasapparently the same as his father, naming him John Cul Jenkins. Thisis supported also by the 1910 census entry as Cull J, with the nameorder reversed, since he went by Cull.
