- I have found no sources that has a maiden name for Mary. A couple ofsources give the name of Martha Ellis as the wife of this EdmondStrange, but for a long time I could not reconcile this with otherinformation. I finally found another Strange family genealogy thatreported both wives:
Mary (no last name known) who was the mother of Amos Alexander, anddied in 1775, but with no other children reported
No name, but matches Martha Ellis in other sources, and has samechildren as others which report only Martha as the wife. This matchesother sources on dates, with the first child of this marriage, a boynamed Parnum, born in 1776, about a year after the reported date ofthe marriage to Martha Ellis in 1775, which also is the year reportedfor the death of Mary, mother of Amos Alexander.
I find it odd that no other children of Mary are reported by anysources I have seen so far, in a 15 year period following Amos' birth.
