• An entry in the 1930 census reported Oregon Knowlton, Jr's marriage toa Ruth A, but I had no further clues to determine who this was.  I hadnot had all the family information at that time.  I was finally ableto clarify this relationship in April 2008, when I received an emailfrom Kenneth Wirt McSwain, so on Wirt Barnard McSwain and Connie LJones.  In our series of emails about his family, he made anincidental reference to his father's sister Ruth's marriage to OregonKnowlton.

  The census report of Marvin McSwain as the brother-in-law of Oregonnow clearly points to Ruth Knowlton as Ruth McSwain.  Ruth's brotherMarvin McSwain, age 16, is living with them, as well as a niece LoreneNobel.  I have not yet worked out the details of the relationships ofLorene to Oregon.  She is only 4 years 11 months old, so it appearsher mother has died recently.  I would expect she is the daughter of asister of Oregon, but have not yet figured out which.
  
  The census information indicates that Ruth and Oregon had been marriedbetween two and three years time in April 1930 when the census wastaken.  No children are shown in this family.  Oregon married Emmie HWest in 1934.  This means that he and Ruth were divorced no later than1934.  We know from other sources that Ruth A McSwain married Ray(Oswald Eugene) Recroft in 1935.   At the time of her brother's death in January 1999, Ruth McSwainRecroft was living in Florida.

  Several public records report Ruth with an address in Bradenton,Florida.  These listings also report her full name to be Alma RuthRecroft.  The name Alma matches the middle initial A in the censusreports.  Some have Alma R.
