Notes

  • This David McSwain appears to be from a different line of McSwainsthan the main line of McSwains in this genealogy.  Genealogies havehim as the son of a David McSwain born in 1758, who was the son ofanother David McSwain born in 1732.  This set of McSwains seem to havecome form Baltimore directly to York District South Carolina, whichborder Rutherford (Cleveland) County, North Carolina, the home of ourMcSwain clan.

Some of the Cleveland McSwains also lived in York District/County.That is where we find David J in the 18590 census (see below).  Thereare so many Davids in both these McSwain lineages, especially in theearly years of settlement in the colonies, that some people haveconfused or even tried to merge these lines.

I am including here the family structure in other genealogies thatfollow the Baltimore McSwains.
